Coaching

What does a sports coach do?

The mission of your sports coach (trainer) is to accompany you until you achieve your goals. This is no small matter, you will agree. After an initial assessment together, he establishes a personalized and realistic program, and then ensures that you follow the program. You decide the frequency and length.

Your coach is more than a simple physical trainer; he also pampers your mind (the key to your motivation), and sometimes your overall well-being (dietetic and anti-stress). What’s the difference with a workout in a small group? It’s tailor-made, with assured feedback and know-how to help you reach your top shape.

Beyond the desired goal, the coach is a teacher in gratification, as the path to succeed in sticking to your goals is vital. In finding your optimal guide, the key is to consider your personality. Since your coach will work with you closely for a while, it’s a good idea to seek a good fit. There are diverse teaching styles.

Certain New-York style coaches have a very direct, dynamic, positive psychology style. They turn on the pressure and don’t allow you to ease off. It’s ideal for people who function well under pressure.

Others develop a more psychological, softer style of coaching, attuned to your personality and your rhythm. They are more discreet and offer encouragement. If you’re not too comfortable with your body, this approach is the right choice.

Your goals

Your coach adapts to your goals!

The first thing to do is fix your goals. Sometimes budding athletes can be unaware of the work involved to reach a goal, and what’s more, have unrealistic goals. You don’t hire a coach by chance, or to amuse yourself. You count on him to make you work. It’s his job! That is why slimming, toning your body, increasing flexibility or muscle, and feeling good are all paths you must consider in finding the real gem.

Training is adapted to your needs and desires. You set your own goals:

  • Weight loss
  • Sports competition preparation
  • Muscular strengthening
  • Physical condition improvement
  • Cardiovascular state maintenance and improvement
  • Wellness

Nutrition

What is sports nutrition?

Nutrition is a strategic factor in the life of a competitive athlete. It plays an obvious role in improving performance. Proper nutrition for an athlete is not very different from nutrition for everyone. Mainly, the ingredients are better composed, taken at the right time and in larger quantity, taking care to replenish water and minerals lost during perspiration.

Carbohydrates are the basic fuel for muscles and must be absorbed in large quantities (pasta, potatoes), regularly during training and a few hours (3-4) before competition. Slow carbohydrates, as in pasta and starchy foods, are always preferable to fast carbohydrates, as in pastries and sweetened beverages.

Proteins are important in renewing muscle growth, and iron intake as well as lipids deliver vitamins and fats necessary for the organism to function properly.

Finally fruits and vegetables provide vitamins and minerals, and their water content promotes rehydration.
